The best recipes have a humble beginning and a secret ingredient. And ours is family. Thomakis Greek yogurt is the result of two families coming together over our Master Dad Chef’s home brew yogurt. Needless to say, once we all got to taste the Greekness, we knew we had to share the goodness with the world.

The tale of two families
The beginnings of Thomakis are humble, to say the least. For years, Christos had been wanting to feel a deeper connection to his Greek heritage, so he did what any good chef would do and went straight to the kitchen—and made Greek yogurt. When Christos tasted his first bite, he knew he had something special. So he put it to the ultimate test: he let his good yogurt-loving friend, Joey, try it. Long story short, Joey loved it. A lot. Not just because it tasted amazing, but because Joey’s son just so happened to love this other Greek yogurt from south of the Canadian border.
But because of the pandemic that shall not be named, the former family favourite yogurt was officially off the table. So after a few minor recipe tweaks, Christos put it to the final-final test. Needless to say, he nailed it! Not only did Joey’s Greek yogurt connoisseur son love it, but so did both families. And no, no one yelled “Opa!” But Christos and Joey did decide to make it a business. And that’s how Thomakis was born.
